Recital album by Juan Pérez Floristan, winner of the 18th Santander International Piano Competition held in Spain in 2015. The winner of this competition, now one of the best in Spain, started in 1972 by Paloma Auchel, a Spanish businesswoman who founded the Albeniz Foundation and the Queen Sofia Higher School of Music, is promised various honors, including a performance with the Madrid Symphony Orchestra, and this album recording is one of them. Perez, who had already attracted attention when he appeared at the 2012 Ruhr Piano Festival, showed even more growth here, performing with passion Schumann, Liszt, and Liszt’s arrangement of Beethoven’s “To a Lover Far Away,” and especially loving the sonata by Liszt.
