:
Brandy Younger, a jazz harpist from New York City, makes her major label debut with a full-length album featuring jazz bass legend Ron Carter and Tariona “Tank” Ball. The album features a unique blend of R&B, rock, classical, hip-hop, and funk, with a unique blend of melodies and rhythms, and a mysterious, somewhat oriental atmosphere. The album has a mysterious, somewhat oriental feel to it. Brandy’s charms are packed into one album, making it an appropriate debut. The album is divided into two parts. Side A is downtempo and introspective. The B-side is a collection of up-tempo songs with pleasantly vigorous harp playing fingers, as if the power quietly stored in the A-side exploded. The first half, “Pretend,” features Tariona “Tank” Ball, frontwoman of Tank and the Bangas. Some of the songs were recorded at Rudy Van Gelder’s studio, where the legendary Blue Note sound was created.
