Queen of Soul” Aretha Franklin’s late 1967 album for Columbia is back on 2-in-1! This CD couples “Take It Like You Give It,” released on Columbia in 1967, the year after her 1966 album “Soul Sister,” with “Take a Look,” her final album for Columbia released the same year. This is a good disc that includes a wide range of songs from standards to funky R&B and Jazzy tunes. The two albums are full of great songs, including the nostalgic M-13 in an all-day style and the swingy and light M-14, but the slow and medium songs, including M-2, M-17, and the relaxed M-7, are worth a listen for their outstanding singing ability. A must-have for fans of the “Queen of Soul” whose transitional period is condensed into a single disc! Commentary: Takatsugu Arai
