Celebrating its 10th anniversary, the Flying Lotus-led label [Brainfeeder], which is showing tremendous momentum, has released the superb compilation “Brainfeeder X” as the culmination of its brilliant history and the end of a torrential release offensive! In addition to the representative songs that have been a part of the label’s history, this compilation presents a total of 36 tracks, 22 of which are new and previously unreleased songs by Flying Lotus and Thundercat, and others that were first released. Disc 1 includes jazz, hip-hop, funk, soul, house, ambient, techno, footwork, and more, as well as a remix of Thundercat’s popular “Friend Zone” by Los From Friends and a remix of “Brandon’s” by Flying Lotus. In addition, a remix of Thundercat’s popular “Friend Zone” by Ross From Friends and a remix of Brandon Coleman’s song by Flying Lotus are included for the first time.Disc 2 also features a new Thundercat song, “King of the Hill,” featuring Bad Bad Not Good, and “The Lavishments of Light Looking,” released by The Walk, consisting of Flying Lotus, Thundercat and Shabazz Parasez, featuring George Clinton, in its first official release. Lavishments of Light Looking” is included in the form of its first official release, as well as rare tracks from the soundtrack to Flying Lotus’ first feature film, “KUSO,” including a new song, “Ain’t No Coming Back,” featuring a bus driver. The artwork for this album is by Charles Munka, who created the striking original logo for [Brainfeeder]. The domestic CD edition comes with an enclosed instruction manual, and the limited-edition first pressing comes with a special sleeve case that follows the design of the LP box set.
