A genius in the alto saxophone world! Saxophonist Kei Matsumaru, born in Chiba Prefecture in 1995, grew up in Papua New Guinea, and graduated at the top of his class at Berklee. His passionate and melodious tone and performance, reminiscent of free jazz, is full of youthful energy that is heavily rooted in the history of jazz while making steady progress. The members are the rhythm section of Hideaki Kanazawa, Akira Ishii, and Shun Ishiwaka, who boast absolute freedom of performance as the trio unit “BOYS,” and a twin drum formation with Naoki Takahashi, an active high school student in Sapporo, as the second drummer. The aggressive band sound is also noteworthy.
