Emile Sauret, violinist and composer, was born in France. Known as a child prodigy from an early age, he studied under Auguste de Berio at the Conservatoire de Strasbourg. He performed throughout Europe and made his debut in the United States at the age of 20, demonstrating his talent, and was praised as “the greatest musician of the 19th century” along with Liszt and Sarasate. Sole not only excelled as a performer, but also composed numerous works for the violin, including the cadenza for Paganini’s Violin Concerto No. 1. This collection of exercises, dedicated to his talented pupil Marjorie Hayward, is a collection of pieces that make full use of a wide variety of techniques.Naxos Japan
