Cellist Dai Miyata, acclaimed by world-famous conductor Seiji Ozawa, and guitarist Koji Ohagi, celebrating the 20th anniversary of his debut and gaining enthusiastic support in Japan and abroad, will release a duo album on Nippon Columbia. The two artists, both active at the forefront of their respective fields, have been performing together for some time. Last year, they held their first duo recitals in Tokyo and Osaka, and have also appeared in the media, including NHK’s “Classic Club”. The one-of-a-kind music spun by these two leading Japanese artists has received rave reviews one after another. This, their first album, features a unique program that makes the most of the unusual ensemble of cello and guitar. The album is like a journey around the world with music, including South American music such as Piazzolla, “Arrival of the Caravan,” familiar from the movie “Lovers of Rochefort,” and French music by Satie and Ravel. [Recorded July 2-3, 2020 at St. Musee (Ueda)
