This is the second collection of unaccompanied violin works by David Matthews, following the first collection (TOCC 152). Here again, the composer writes highly technical works, but all because of his high confidence in Scheavez, who plays them. All of the pieces were written with him first in mind, and this is also the driving force behind the creation of the best unaccompanied violin works of our time. The “Four Australian Birds” imitates bird calls, the “Fifteen Preludes” has a lyrical melody, and others offer a rich variety of violin sounds.Naxos Japan
