Bruno Walter first conducted the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra on January 21, 1907, in a concert in honor of Otto Nicolai. In 1975, after five years of negotiations with the Austrian Broadcasting Company (ORF) and the British Decca, CBS Sony (then CBS Sony) in Japan decided to purchase the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra’s first concert after World War II, the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra’s first concert in Salzburg. The release of four LPs of live recordings of various concerts Walther and the Vienna Philharmonic gave in Vienna and Salzburg after World War II caused a sensation because of the richness of the performances. All of these recordings have been DSD mastered for the first time in 18 years from 38 cm monaural analog masters provided by ORF. The historical value of this document has been revived with even more brilliance. (C)RS
