Rough Trade Shop, a long-established record store that is talked about every year for its unique selections, ranked the 2017 album “Party” as the best album of the year, beating such masterpieces as Bjork’s “Utopia,” Thundercat’s “Drunk,” Sunhwa’s “Process,” and Kerera’s “Take Me Apart. Comprised mainly of songs created on the road during his summer 2018 release tour of over 100 shows, the album, like its predecessor, is a collaboration between Aldous Harding, who is also known as PJ Harvey’s collaborator, and Tracy. The album was recorded and mixed at Rockfield Studios in Wales with the return of John Parrish, who is also known as a collaborator and has produced work for Tracy Chapman and Sparklehorse, among others. The bold opening track, “Fixture Picture,” is a testament to her confidence in her own work, and her expressive, timeless songwriting and melancholic voice have evolved and become more evolved, with a remarkable presence. The Japanese CD version of this album, released by “4AD,” which is celebrating its 40th anniversary and releasing a series of masterpieces, will include a commentary and bilingual lyrics, and will also include an additional bonus track. This product will be released on the same day worldwide, so it will be delivered on or after the day of release.
