His 72nd studio album was released on April 29, his 89th birthday. 2021 saw the release of “That’s Life,” a tribute to Sinatra, and “Family,” a gathering of the Nelson family, followed by a series of planned albums, but this is Willie’s original vocal album with a country flavor. This time, however, it is a vocal album full of Willie’s original country flavor. The songs are fragile yet beautiful, with Willie’s unique, thoughtful and gentle perspective on mortality, and in addition to five songs co-written with producer Buddy Cannon, the album also includes such tasty classics as Lennon McCartney’s “With A Little Help From My Friend” and Leonard Cohen’s “Tower Of Song.
