This album was recorded in January 2020 at Trading 8s Recording Studio near NY. Taeko Sebe’s piano is skillfully supported by bassist Harvey S., who also played with her on the last album. Lenny White, active in the jazz fusion scene since the 1960s, plays drums. Taeko Sebe’s piano stands out more freely, more aggressively, and more bluesily with the combination of acoustic sound, bass, and drums that only US recordings can provide. The songs include four of Taeko Sebe’s own originals, Wayne Shorter’s #1, Dave Grusin’s #5, and standard tunes, and #4 Messenger is an original Taeko Sebe composition with Seizan Kiminami on shakuhachi.
