Description
On May 4th, 2024, Jamael Dean sat at the grand piano at 2220 Arts + Archives in Los Angeles with no setlist, letting instinct guide him. Over the course of an hour, he delivered a solo performance that flowed between original material, improvisation, and reworkings of jazz standards. Oriki Duuru — meaning “piano poems” in Yoruba — presents the complete, unedited document of that night’s unfolding, offering a vivid snapshot of a singular jazz voice in free expression.
