This is the solo debut of Michael League, leader/multi-instrumentalist/producer/arranger of Snarky Puppy, the most powerful super-unit of our time, who won the 63rd Grammy Award in 2021 for the fourth time. He performed all instruments/arrangements/vocals/choruses, etc. himself in a lockdown environment. The sound is deep and effective, with elements of his roots in XTC, Peter Gabriel, and other ’80s bands. The sound image is layered organically with a variety of instrumental sounds, a thick self-chorus, and Middle Eastern and North African percussion. (C)RS
