Description
1965 (reissued 2021). By the time of this recording, Hancock was operating a profitable sideline writing advertising jingles, and the title track of this album apparently began its life as TV ad background music before growing into a modal masterpiece that he cited as his favourite composition. Recorded with Hancock’s Miles Davis Quintet colleagues George Coleman (tenor sax), Ron Carter (bass) and Tony Williams (drums) along with Freddie Hubbard (trumpet).
