[Leonard Bernstein (1918.8.25-1990.10.14) was a star conductor who shared popularity with Karajan in the 20th century.) His passionate, emotionally charged, and soulful performances drew the sympathies of many, and he was loved by many with a charismatic following. To commemorate the 100th anniversary of his birth, 50 titles are being released in a limited edition in UHQCD format with green color label coating and sound quality. Hindemith’s masterpiece for orchestra, “Matisse the Painter,” has a unique title. Hindemith’s music, performed by the great talent of Bernstein, is full of life in every note, and at the same time, it is overwhelmingly strong-willed, completely devoid of lyricism or romanticism. This is a masterful performance with a sharpness and a vivid sense of rhythm that only an American could have achieved. Special program to commemorate the 100th anniversary of DG’s founding [Performed by] Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, Conductor: Leonard Bernstein Recorded: April 1989, Tel Aviv
