He studied composition with Olivier Messiaen and piano with Yvonne Loriot, and graduated first in both piano accompaniment and composition at the Conservatoire, as well as first in piano at the Ecole Normale with a high performance diploma. Since then, Kazuoki Fujii has been active in various fields as one of the standard-bearers of French music. This is an album of his own compositions in addition to the royal road of French keyboard works by Couperin, Debussy, and Ravel, as well as his favorite works by Mozart and others. Fujii’s sound palette is further expanded on this CD using a Bösendorfer model 290 Imperial, from the weakest notes that seem to rise from the depths to the strongest, most colorful tones. Here awaits a brilliant performance filled with joy and the fullest potential of the piano.
