Jefferson Starship is an American rock band active from 1974 to 1984, reunited in 1992, and known for their second album “Red Octopus” (1975), which reached No. 1 in the U.S. This is their first album in 12 years (21 years since its release in Japan). This is their first studio album in 12 years (21 years since the Japanese release), and their first studio album since 2008’s “Jefferson’s Tree Of Liberty”. The current lineup consists of the original David Freiberg (B, Key, Vo), Donnie Baldwin (Ds) who joined the band in 1982, Chris Smith (Key), Kathy Richardson (Vo), and Jude Gold (G), all of whom are relatively young. Paul Kantner and Marty Balin, who had been leading the band since the Jefferson Airplane days, passed away in 2016 and 2018, respectively. This work is dedicated to them, especially David. The first single, “IT’S ABOUT TIME,” was written by Grace Slick, who was literally the signature singer from the Jefferson Airplane to the Starship era.
