Pianist Jean-Michel Bré, who follows in the footsteps of Chilly Gonzalez, has completed his second album. While maintaining the elegant and delicate sound of the piano, he has introduced electronic sounds and pioneered a new way of expression. His unique piano sense, which combines the precise technique he learned from classical music with a pop sensibility, has blossomed greatly on this album. He made a strong debut with “Ill,” a solo piano work created in the privacy of his home, and received a big boost from the prestigious Arts & Crafts label as the successor to Chilly Gonzalez, a new direction he embarked on after touring Europe and North America. After living in Berlin and South America, he has been working on works that sublimate the experiences he gained from these various environments, and his goal was to create new possibilities for the piano. His goal is a free encounter with electronic and ambient music that is in sync with Nils Frahm’s ideas. The sound that is naturally incorporated into the elegant solo piano works of the past will be greatly appreciated as a new form of modern music.
