Description
:
[The religious solemnity and deep lyricism of the Seventh Symphony brought the composer to fame for his outstanding compositional technique, and the coda of the second movement is known as a tribute to his beloved Wagner. This disc is a live recording of Karajan’s last concert, and at the same time, it is a monumental performance that marks the end of his vast recording output. This performance with the Vienna Philharmonic, which became the master’s last words of resignation, is a beautiful testament to the maturity of Karajan in his final years. Rubidium clock cutting. Recorded live in Vienna, April 1989 [Performed by] Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, Conductor: Herbert von Karajan
