Description
:
Two of Mozart’s famous piano concertos while conducting the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra in 1986 have been remastered and released on CD for the first time. Once one of the “Three Crows of Vienna,” Goulda was noted for his Viennese musical tradition and flexible sensibility. Mozart was the composer he most admired as a Viennese child. His performances of Mozart, in which Goulda’s pianism, which is unique to his playing, and the orchestra engage in a dialogue, produce a mixture of songfulness and pathos that is unparalleled. This is a rare live recording of the virtuoso composer at the age of 56. (C)RS
