[Piano Masters Series] Deutsche Grammophon, celebrating its 120th anniversary in 2018, is releasing its third big project with a series of releases of master pianists. Star pianist/composer Trifonov burst onto the international stage in 2010 when he won third prize at the crowded Chopin Competition, and the following year he cemented his status by winning the Rubinstein Competition and the Tchaikovsky Competition and Grand Prix. He is a standout in terms of technique and musicianship, and in terms of the brilliance of his personality. In addition to Chopin’s two piano concertos, the program includes solo works and homages to Chopin by Montpauw, Schumann, Tchaikovsky, Grieg, and Barber. This is the first recording of the concerto orchestrated by composer-pianist prodigy Pletnyov, who also conducts. Pletnjov also conducts the concerto, and he collaborates with his teacher, Babayan, in the Rondo for two pianos. Includes an entry lottery sticker.
