[The Art of Claudio Arrau] Claudio Arrau (1903-1991) was a Chilean pianist active mainly in the United States. To commemorate the 30th anniversary of his death, this is an encore pressing of the “The Art of Claudio Arrau” series released in 2011. Arrau had a solid reputation as an inheritor of the most orthodox German music. He recorded Beethoven’s concertos in their entirety three times, and these two performances are from the second recording made by the 61-year-old Arrau in 1964. This is a Japan-only project.
