Aphex Twin stands as one of electronic music’s most influential figures, with his early output reshaping the possibilities of sound. Many of those formative works for Belgian imprint R&S Records were brought together on the 1995 compilation Classics, now reissued with a new vinyl cut by Beau Thomas.
Alongside tracks from the breakthrough singles ‘Digeridoo’ and ‘Xylem Tube’, the collection also includes ‘Analogue Bubblebath 1’, ‘Metapharstic’, two fierce remixes of Mescalinum United’s ‘We Have Arrived’, and a live version of ‘Digeridoo’ recorded in Cornwall in 1990. Originally issued in 1992, ‘Digeridoo’ quickly became a defining Aphex track, coupling acidic intensity with futuristic drive, and marking the start of his enduring partnership with R&S Records.
