Giuseppe Tartini, the greatest violinist and composer of the 18th century, known for his “Devil’s Sonatas,” composed this collection of “Little Sonatas” at the end of his life. This collection is listed as “25 sonatas” in music dictionaries, but now violinist Peter Shepherd Scaves has done his own research and has included the works that were overlooked in earlier editions, thus making them “30 little sonatas.” Although called “little sonatas,” they are large works that would take more than six hours to perform in their entirety, and may be regarded as important works comparable to Bach’s unaccompanied sonatas.Naxos Japan
