Cover Notes: Renée Zellweger stars as the eponymous character in this romantic comedy based on the novel by Helen Fielding. Bridget is the 1990s British everywoman: single and weight-obsessed with a mild drinking problem. Her life goes from middling to worse when she embarks on a doomed affair with her silver-tongued boss Daniel Cleaver (Hugh Grant). In the background lurks Mark Darcy (Colin Firth), a seemingly cold lawyer who keeps crossing Bridget’s path but whose precise intentions are hard for her to fathom. All the while Bridget records her misadventures in her diary in an attempt to take control of her life. The cast also includes Jim Broadbent, Celia Imrie and Gemma Jones.
