One Man’s New Order = Synth Pop in an Era of Chaos by Black Marble, a New Wave/ New Order artist who released the smash hit album “It’s Immaterial” on Ghostly International in 2016. After a three-year hiatus, synth-pop artists Black Marble release their long-awaited new album “Bigger Than Life,” their first release since moving to Sacred Bones, and the album was produced in their new home base of Los Angeles from New York City. This is a work that was produced after moving from New York to Los Angeles. The change in lifestyle, commuting from his apartment to the studio by bus instead of a car that had become unusable due to overuse during the long trip, soon led him to discover the beauty of the city of Los Angeles, which influenced this work. As with his previous works, he produced everything by himself, using completely analog equipment (the PC was used only for recording). However, the production process adopted a new approach: all songwriting was done on the MPC, which was then sequenced into the synths. The dreamy synth work is retained, but the reverb-soaked vocals are brought to the forefront in the mix, creating a more polished mix of weepy melodies and songs that will captivate all New Wave lovers.From the album title to the artwork, from the theme to the sound, this album is Black Marble’s answer to the current times, and its more dignified pop-ness is proof of their attempt to create something positive out of chaos. Only the domestic distribution version comes with a download code for the bonus track.
