Japan’s world-class top drummer Akira Jimbo, celebrating his 40th anniversary, releases three original album titles simultaneously. As a new challenge, he has taken on the challenge of producing three original albums simultaneously. In previous albums, Jimbo has flown to Los Angeles and New York to pursue the appeal of live sessions with local musicians, but this time he had to abandon his trip to the U.S. due to the Corona disaster, so the production was done remotely in New York and Tokyo. The 29 songs selected from among 100 candidates were brought to life in “28 NY Blue,” “29 NY Red,” and “30 Tokyo Yellow,” based on the concept of the three primary colors of blue, red, and yellow. 30 Tokyo Yellow” is his first complete solo drum album, with drums playing the leading role on tracks created through programming. The drums were recorded entirely in Tokyo, and the skill of engineer Naoki Kano, who was hired for the first time, has created a drum sound that is different from anything he has ever done before. In particular, the dub-like mix on “30 Tokyo Yellow” is a major feature of the album.
