Description

With “Ache,” Michael Olivera presented an ongoing jazz chemical reaction between Spain and Cuba. This follow-up concept album is a masterpiece that further refines his acclaimed songwriting, which is reminiscent of the sparkling and transparent Brazilian music of the Minas region, and evokes cool and vivid scenes with beautiful melodies throughout the entire album. The killer tune is “AEE,” featuring the impressive voice of Miriam Latrese, as on the previous album. The three-wind horn section of trumpet, saxophone, and trombone, and the participation of Yonatan Avishai (p) add breadth and depth to the album. The band also features an elite lineup of musicians, including Brazilian-born Munir Hossun, who plays guitar as well as bass. (C)RS
