This is one of the recordings from the complete Beethoven Violin Sonatas that Kemp began working on in September 1952, when he was in his 50s, and was also in the midst of a very productive period of his life, working on the complete Beethoven Piano Sonatas and Piano Concertos. Schneiderhan later re-recorded the complete works with Carl Szeemann in 1959.
