In 1996, Ryuichi Sakamoto released an album entitled “1996. The album features new arrangements of Sakamoto’s existing compositions for piano, violin, and cello. These self-covers were critically acclaimed as masterpieces, with the arrangements and performances bringing his past masterpieces to life once again. The album sold well, and the world tour that followed its release drew enthusiastic audiences from around the world. In the fall of 2011, the piano trio was revived in Europe. The cello is played by Jakis Morelenbaum, a friend of Sakamoto’s and an original member of the trio, and the violin is played by Judy Kang, a new talent selected by audition. The mix of old and new songs once again captivated the European audiences. This album is the long-awaited trio album since “1996” with a high degree of perfection, recorded in the studio right after the European tour.AVEX
