[Best Classics 100] This highly anticipated all-Mozart program with the Mito Chamber Orchestra, for which Seiji Ozawa serves as music director, began in 2004 and was completed in 2015 with the recording of the late six major symphonies and several concertos, although it faced difficulties due to Maestro Ozawa’s illness in the middle of the series. The series was completed in 2015 with recordings of the latter six major symphonies and several concertos, all recorded in DSD. The last two most popular symphonies from this series, which left a significant mark on Seiji Ozawa’s career, are specially coupled on this album.
