Description
Following the instant sell-out of their 12-inch cover of Weldon Irvine’s rare-groove classic “I Love You”, the third installment in the cover
series by deadbundy, the electric band led by DJ MOTIVE, arrives as a double A-side single.
This release pairs an all-time killer tune, Roberta Flack’s “Feel Like Makin’ Love”, with “Make Me Believe” by Archie James Cavanaugh—a
rare and highly acclaimed 1980s blue-eyed soul gem also featured on DJ MURO’s mixtapes.
Track A1 “Feel Like Makin’ Love”, originally produced for deadbundy’s live performance at BLUENOTE PLACE in 2025, showcases
MOTIVE’s original piano phrases, jazzy guitar lines, and deadbundy’s signature choral arrangements. The result is a beautifully balanced,
unisex vocal performance that drifts effortlessly, making this an outstanding and elegant reinterpretation.
On B2 “Make Me Believe”, soulful vocals are provided by Junpei Shiina, a soul singer and the older brother of Ringo Shiina. Driven by a
rippling bassline and warm, jazzy guitar and piano phrases, this version is sweeter and more danceable than the original, infused with a
strong acid jazz sensibility.
Both tracks are mixed with a floating, comfortable atmosphere and deep groove inspired by 1990s Japanese indie rock such as
Fishmans, as well as the early Japanese club scene exemplified by Mondo Grosso. Equally suited for dedicated listening and club play,
this release stands as a truly essential record
