This is the long-awaited second album by super trumpeter Percho Flores, a graduate of El Sistema, the Venezuelan music education system that produced Dudamel. The co-conductor is Christian Lindberg (pronounced “Lindbergy”), a Swedish conductor who has been called the “Paganini of trombone”. The first piece on the album, “Akbank Bunker,” was composed by him for the Norwegian virtuoso Antonsen. In addition to the above concertos, the album includes his arrangement for trumpet of “Zigoinelwaizen,” a gypsy-like piece for violin, “Overflowing with Love,” which is considered the first bossa nova song, and the tango masterpiece “Oblivion.
